Love across the universe
December 24th, 2007

"The more perfect the artist, the more completely separate in him will be the man who suffers and the mind which creates."
T. S. Eliot

“Spread the word and you’ll be free.” Music is the harmonic resonance between all living beings. When it vibes high it opens up to Love.

For instance, the mind-blowing musical creativity of the 60’s was a powerful catalyst for social and political change and it is still a powerful influence. The arrival of the Beatles was called a phenonmenon. Their naive-like lyrics and fresh sound caused a world-wide sensation. The British made Love into LUV. “Have you heard the word is love? It’s so fine, It’s sunshine…It’s the woorrd LOVE.” These Liverpool chaps expressed emotions that had been lost after decades of two World wars.

LOVE should be a daily connection...not just a special declaration. The Beatles’ songs infused ordinary moments and acts with the passion of love. The Lennon McCartney songwriting marriage was emotionally intertwined, creatively supportive but also strongly individualistic. Their joint collaboration explored issues of separation, individualism, loneliness, and the soulful striving for love on a daily basis. They made it playful, provocative, and deadly serious. They meant real business. “And, in the end, the love you take/is equal to the love you make.”

Besides the usual angst that all artists have, lyricists have an emotional chutzpah that echoes worldly awareness. No one can sing without some bravery; and without some relief from weltschmertz we would lose heart. Lennon McCartney’s musical gifts surprisingly antidoted the harsh reality of their war-time childhoods. Their Reality #s tell their huge lesson in survival and how they passed it on to us:

John Lennon was a non-conformist and Paul McCartney is an English gentleman. It was yin and yang from the beginning. The weakness of Lennon was to lose his temper at the world and McCartney’s was to be irritated at little slips. John noticed the big picture and Paul pays attention to the details; sort of like the conundrum of “penny-wise and pound foolish” and vice versa in their case too.

John Lennon’s birthday is: October 9, 1940. Its reality number is 33/6 — (healing, martyrdom, and nurturing). Music is a constant is this complex number. The harmony of time and vibration when brought together create peace. “One thing I can tell you is you got to be free. Come together, right now, over me.”

Paul McCartney’s birthday is: June 18th, 1942. Its reality number is 40/4 (overcoming doubts, creating order). Faith is developed over fear to anchor a lopsided spatial awareness. Reasoning and detecting causes develops highly perceptive observations. “Blackbird singing in the dead of night/take these broken wings and learn to fly.”

Theirs was a powerful partnership that had its weaknesses and flaws which would eventually cause a stormy break in their bond. (They reconciled before John’s death.) We should just thank our lucky stars they met, followed their dreams, making happy music, healing us, and mending their rocky start in life. They became men of the world, found their soul-mates, and married…theirs was definitely a truly creative friendship and masterful collaboration….and it was a lot like true love.

"If you're going to be an heiress, you can't have a normal name, unless you're British."
Paris Hilton

"Who has a bad name is half-hanged."
Italian Proverb

It’s SUPERMAN!

Superman as his alter-ego Clark Kent stole little girl’s hearts; and he inspired good deeds as The Man of Steel in young boys’ fantasies through the DC comic book strips….but now in the movies he’s become a global icon. The wonder of Superman’s powers must have inspired the AHA moment for a New Zealand couple when they saw their unborn child on the ultra sound monitor. Their astonished response was like seeing the caped crusuader swooping over them and realizing that he is “4REAL.” They felt its “force” and decided to name their child after that auspicious sight.

Some people have babies like some people buy furniture for the living room to improve their social status. By simply having a child society bestows parents with an honored position. When a child is named it becomes a commodity in its family, community, and future. The ring of a name recalls memories and its sound broadcasts a message; and for better or worse one’s fortunes are tied to one’s name. California names data suggest “an overwhelming number of parents use a name to signal their own expectations of how successful their children will be.” (Freakonomics, Levitt & Dubner, p.204)

Children are precious and the universe has a plan that is beyond mere human ambition. The New Zealand couple wanted to name their baby 4Real but their choice was rejected by the country’s registrar of births, deaths, and marriages because of the use of a number. A name makes it own music, a number represents a location. (4)Real indicates a place for “being” real. The entire meaning then is: Real 18/9 (selfless-service) a nurturing creative vision — where? 4 (earth). 4Real = 22/4 (utopian concepts).

As a substitute they’ve decided on Superman. (Just remember Superman is a ficticious hero.) He had an alter-ego Clark Kent whose vibe is very different and that’s another character analysis. Unless these parents weighed the lack of Superman’s alter-ego vibe into their decision-making the story’s ending will be a kicker. As they say — Stay Tuned — the saga of junior’s powers continue….

"Love is a life-long conversation."
Brian E. Sharp

Two great film directors died on the same day July 30, 2007 = 46 (inheritance) — Ingmar Bergman and Michelangelo Antonioni. I studied film theory and loved the adventure of their minds. “Cinema is the woman of the Universe.” a film goer once said to me at a Werner Herzog showing — meaning one thinks of her as a creature of mystery and delight. Cinema envelops dreams; their plots are driven by landscape instead of dialogue and there is no satisfying ending to them. These two great masters of cinema left behind legacies of promise that leave us to play with their cinematic conclusions.

“Each time I have tried to communicate with someone, love has disappeared.” said Monica Vitti in La Notte by Antonioni. Despite their strong personality differences Bergman and Antonioni were both seeking ways to communicate feelings of passion and love in their respective environments. Bergman’s theme was about how the spirit has difficulty surviving in an emotionally disconnected world. Antonioni related how the mishap of differing viewpoints drives people away from each other.

Bergman’s reality# is 40 (overcoming doubts) and a material vibe# 48 (executing ideas) which shows he experienced ups and downs financially, health scares, relationship breakdowns, etc. that tested his faith to the limit and motivated his material accomplishments. Antonioni’s reality# is 51 (expedition leader) with a material vibe# 55 (revolutionary); it has the verve of a spiritual evolutionary and a financial speculator which made his love-life problematic. Antonioni’s cinematic life played with the music of space and emotions, Bergman’s work reverberated the fragile state between darkness and light.

It takes guts to be a genius — life’s journey without the comfort of acceptance is hard. As one film critic said about Antonioni what’s really amazing about his films is that they were made at all. Regardless of setbacks, these directors continued seeking that “purity in love” with their passionate cinematic tangos. Through their art they found joy. Our visual image stream is richer since their contributions; and our belief in love is stronger for it too.

Oden plays by 52
July 26th, 2007

"You have one central lesson to learn -- to continuously drop all your rigid identities. Personal history may be your greatest danger."
Arnold Mindell

We have an expression here in Portland Oregon: “Weird til I die.” — We’re proud of it. We believe you’re driven to come here (or be born here) by a deep need to overcome something in order to rise like a phoenix. The Old English term wyrd means “destiny.” It has karmic overtones (past-events shape the future) and it also means freewill has a hand in controlling the kind of destiny it becomes. In otherwords, Johnny can take the high road or the low road, or completely err and go astray. Intention is a big player in building one’s character.

According to Greg Oden, the new center for the Trailblazers, even #52 (harmony midst changes) looks awkward to him, but it’s suitable. He combined his high school team #50 (freed energy) with his college #20 (mediator) for some sentimental reason or just a gut feeling. Whatever “invisible hand” guided his decision he has now committed himself to the Trailblazers with the mark of this vibe. And so for the time being, he’s the epicenter of a wobbly team; the calming presence amidst confusion and its pillar of strength.

Just nineteen (surrender ego) years old and he’s modest….it’s must have somethin’ to do with his karmic trail, in an alternate reality he could be 52 in wise years. Greg is focusing on doing his work and people like that pick the challenges that test their character; rebounding their pleasure double time. These are tumultuous times for the Blazers and nothing is gained by rushing forward too soon, in fact, the real value might get harmed. You see, nothing is gained until the old and broken has truly been replaced. Oden wisely riposted “Not yet” to a local editor’s enthusiasm as he was crowned this year’s Portland’s Best Bet. Oden knows he has just glimpsed his new future and it will take time to make it real for the fans and practice to make it work. Yeah, yeah, it’s important for everyone to remember: Harmony means lovin’ the moment. Oden is such a new boy in town and so green behind the ears he’s gonna make it fun to watch his game grow. So it’s weird that the NBA #1 slot happened to us at this time. We sure got incredibly lucky. You know its weird but Portland is ready to move forward….but is Greg Oden?

More than a Princess…
July 5th, 2007

"Everyone of us needs to show how much we care for each other and, in the process, care for ourselves."
Diana, Princess of Wales

"The worst illness of our time is that so many people have to suffer from not ever being loved."
Diana, Princess of Wales

The news of Princess Diana’s fatal accident was haunting.

It was morning in the high desert far out in the country, the chirping had ceased and the heat was rising. I lived then in a solar house with my ex-husband and the only outside contact was radio and the telephone. We hadn’t turned on the radio in days but the first thing we heard that glorious morning on a public station was some lovely sad music — Ravel’s contemplative Pavane for a Dead Princess. My British husband remarked “they wouldn’t be playing that unless something happened.” It was a stunning revelation of what had happened…the outside world suddenly turned itself upside down. Besides our own disbelief, people all over the world grieved for this Princess who’d won their hearts. It seemed to be a global tragedy.

Her sons Princes William and Harry celebrated her life this week with a concert at Wembly Stadium in London. It would have been her 46th (family guardian) birthday. She died August 31, 1997 =65/11 (politician) at the age of 36 (protecting innocence). All that might look nonsensical but it does uncover a special purpose for her short time with us.

Diana Spencer was born July 1, 1961 = 25/7 (hidden knowledge). Her reality vibe shows that Diana’s public life and service was operating on information from a deeper soul source. Her dreams must have appeared to be as realistic as being awake. It was this strong intuitive understanding that kept her self-determined despite her challenges. Her reality direction 29/11 (beautiful life) alludes to a compassion for the disadvantaged and it was where she felt fulfilled. Her warning is a 36/9 (protecting innocence) shows personal naivete with a positive link to charitable work. The sultry combo of these vibes is practically angelic but not necessarily saintly. She was here to give angelic service to others and she was also meant to challenge institutions; marriage is one and so is royalty.

Unfortunately, 1997/8 (material success) was a very bad year for her romantic love life: her personal vibe for that year 16/7 (unrequited love) and external influence 34/7 (taking risks) combined was a disaster waiting to occur. Her personal energy 47/11 (perceptive) was edgy and rebellious that day and so her private life jeopardized her safety. The cavalcade of missteps and then the shocking tragedy broke the silent barrier of royal stiffness and a nation’s heart.

She cared about people whose lives were marginalized by issues that were too distasteful or horrific for most people to look at. Her deep sensitivity and compassion energized awareness of their conditions internationally. We all remember her as being a beacon of light in the hearts of many of us. Her sons, we hope will carry on her incredible legacy. The concert was a wonderful start and as  P. Diddy rapped that night…”we love you [and] we miss you.”

The princess goes to jail.

"First you lose your Will, before you gain it."
Dervish Proverb

Prisoner 9818783 currently doing time in a Los Angeles facility a.k.a. Paris Hilton on the outside, may be wondering how charming is a life without a lot of bells & whistles to choose from; something in her previous existence she probably never really pondered about for long. That’s what doing time is for: instructional thinking. She was given the opportunity to obey the laws and get the instruction from the community services but she choose to ignore them. Quel dommage! Obliviously, she chose to drag out her torture. Why?

Was it a profitable move for Paris? Was it foreseeable? Firstly, her jail number tells a lot about her experience with the law. Prisoner #9818783 = 44/8 (rules & regulations) is a strong institutional reminder that the law is in charge, not Paris. 44/8 is a power frequency that combines the laws of time with spiritual knowledge. Sometimes I refer it to it as the Pope vibe because it strives to bring spiritual power into a coherent form such as a church or a penal institution. Prayer goes a long way in either place. Her timing was exquisite, Paris has got great publicity instincts. Her monthly vibe for June is 34/7 (taking risks) and where 52/7 (in a tumultuous environment). With that kind of bad luck it would be best to be in a monastery, rehab, or better yet a prison where you’re safer from a paparazzi attack (could be ugly) but perhaps not saner while you have a breakdown. Seems rehab or prison is the only escape for the famous from their infamy. Young celebs by-pass meditation retreats; they don’t have that certain street cred.

Paris wants to be known as Paris, not just as another Hilton. This makes sense with her personality vibe a 55/1 (revolutionary). It’s not just her dumb luck that crazy insane stuff happens to her — she has a strong rebellious streak that wants to break the rules. A fifty-five vibe for a female is like being an amazon. A hard-headed child. While she contemplates her new possibilities in her blank cell without her cell phone, she might start thinking about how her retro-feminism affects the lives of other women without her position and money. She is ambitious and self-made - true - but as she said recently a dumb act and just not cute anymore. With a personal year of 28/1 (power networking) she can be willful, determined and if she turns herself around in the right direction this year, she can do something huge, creative, charitable - even environmentally responsible. If life is not good for even her aptly named dog Tinkerbell, Paris will have a say in it. Paris has a big heart inside that formidable publicity facade.

A 46/1 vibe (opulence) is her material world identity this year which means she’s still hooked on her self-interest. However, she will start thinking about those who are helpless because of a 7 (mystical) challenge and begin an ascent into seeing the world through their eyes; this process will continue for years. Her childhood karma will come around full circle when she’s twenty-eight. For now, being 26 (responsible service) years old means fully appreciating the effect her behaviour and actions do have on others.

How Cex changed my life.
May 28th, 2007

"You live a new life for every new language you speak."
Czech Proverb

"Language is an anonymous, collective, and unconscious art; the result of the creativity of thousands of generations."
Edward Sapir

"I speak Spanish to God, Italian to women, French to men, and German to my dog."
Emperor Charles V

Cex Fucx… is a band in Portland, Oregon. Portland is considered indie rock heaven.  USA Today calls it the capital. INDIE ROCK means garage space, poor, self-styled musicians, and clamorous multi-influenced music.  There’s a party band called Cex Fucx that plays experimental, jazzy whatsis stuff and they developed their sound in a music space called 411. That’s a number worth reflecting upon. 411 means 4 practice, 41 youthful movements, 11 famous & edgy, the total 42/6 is social ambition. Six is the vibe of musicians. You dial (ringtone) 411 for info (6 means healing & nurturing also).

It is a down & rad music scene. Gig announcements constantly cram my email. The PA’s sound like cyberfunk haiku. You could react by puking or laughing at some of the intonations in their verbage, yet the smarty hyperbolic word play, stretched concepts, and its persuasive seduction is such a tasty brain snack that it gets the reader to want to investigate this underground culture. At first I thought it was just youth’s genius that engaged my mind; then subtly I started feeling the brilliant vibes of the twists and turns of “indie” language revealing a cosmic poetic beauty that makes one laugh at their joke. Language is Power. They’re killer funny. Some recent group contributions besides Cex Fucx (longer established) are: YXIMALLOO, Party Killer, Broken Antlers, Synesthete Ensemble and then almost as a haiku antidote — Zen Widow. All in just two emails! Plus, on-hand, already there’s an established group called Haiku Ambulance – I had to think –  do they rescue head trips?

Back to my original point — how did this have an affect on my life? Changing the spelling of words will change their vibrational meaning and that impacts the listener.  Changing a language is a cultural art form. Consider the concept of Love. It is called Amore in Italian. Does that mean the Italians have a different rapture with the idea of Love because of their language? Certainly. AMORE 25/Seven reflects on the dreamy possibilities of what Love might, could, or is to be.   Hmmm,  the Madonna complex is huge there!   LOVE in English adds to Nine (humanitarian) with a 7 (mysticism) and 11 (idealism) components. The English Love has more to do with the Golden Rule kind of loving.  Several languages I’ve looked into also include the mystical Seven in their vibe of love.  This just shows we can’t wander too far from a truth in any language.

Flipping the switch of SEX to CEX is a creative way of owning a hot new vibe. SEX (3) is Joy. It combines performance with innocence. FUCKS (6) is actually a sunny or very sad relationship. — CEX (5) is Freedom. It’s combo denotes discussion of global issues. FUCX (18/9) is a charitable pragmatic brotherhood vision. Cex Fucx comes from the digits of the real phone number of the 411 music space. The total of CEX FUCX together is 8 (energy fields)+ 24 ( gypsy spirit) = 32/5 = nonconforming & experimental. Intuitively, a clever way to bring in diverse influences to the 411 music space. Not at all  bad, they’re so tuned in to subtle frequencies it’s awesome.

Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man

"There's a lot of clever minds behind that, no question about it. But you know, less is more."
(on hip hop)
Bob Dylan

play a song for me, I’m not sleepy and there is no place I’m going to.

In twenty-five words or less Bob Dylan can describe a universal moment completely.
Bob Dylan was born on a special day – May 24, 1941. The twenty-fourth of May is a Gypsy Pilgrimage Day; gypsies travel to a small mediteranean town to pay their respects, on that day, to St. Sara their patron saint. 24/6 (astro-travel) is also the gypsy number. You’ll find that vibe among bohemian thinkers and artists. It means psychically exploring out there in the ethers but also being a good craftsman because it involves good mechanical and spatial aptitude — perfect for a lyricist and a musician.

A craftsman seeks to make something beautiful out of the raw materials of the earth or the difficult lessons of life. Bob Dylan has an exceptional year ahead that will stretch his imagination further and into places that rock musically. This year the dude has got surprises up his sleeve. He’s 66 years old. A 66/3 freq is a cosmic harmonizer: believes in consistency, good boundaries, and responsibility. This musical vibe is a master healer — like a lonesome cowboy singing ’round the campfire; it takes the existential vacuum out of life. It totals three (joy) and that is a sign for happy experiences ahead.

Looking at this genius’ path, his frequency patterns reveal quite a few master vibes: 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 99. This is like holding a royal flush in poker. Very lucky. Mastering these energies is a divine opportunity to create a big vision. Except he’s missing 66, 77, & 88 and this year he’s scoring the 66. Just focusing on BD’s birthdate is enough to show the ways he can wrangle this 66 vibe in.

His reality# 5/24/1941 = 44/8 (rhythms of nature) — the Pope vibe, creating a complete work of consciousness. The reality direction 11/2 (fame) works well with how he does it: 55/1 (a revolutionary). Penultimately, he is an unusual observer with 47/11 (rare perception). However, no one is immune to misfortune; the only snag in this reality# is getting caught in a grand illusion. He changed his name to Bob Dylan 5+7=12/3 (elegance & perfection) and created an illusion apart from his original self. He became ironically an outlaw.

The magic of his personal year is 56/11 (directing people) and 38/11 (judging character) is a subjective influence. When a 66 energy pervades your space it is time to listen to the spheres, do the light fantastic, and mend hearts around you. The vibe is joyful and youthful reminding the soul of all the mothers we’ve known in our lives who’ve nurtured our aspirations and kept us grounded while we learned to fly. “Holding our hands” is somethin’ atypical for this poetic outlaw and yet it’s his time…….never too late….. In the jingle jangle morning I’ll come followin’ you.

Katie Couric - Times have changed.
May 18th, 2007

"When you know your own worth and power then you have wisdom."
Suze Orman

Fifty is a grand age. The Jack Nicholson (Mr. Cool) said it brought him to his knees. Mel Gibson had a melt-down on a LA freeway (he was fifty) which nearly ruined the opening of his new film and tarnished his image. Couric turned fifty January 7th and she is shrouded with controversy over her anchorwoman role at CBS News. What gives here.

The vibe Fifty is the Gate of Wisdom. It is the valve of self-exploration, integrity, honesty, openness; if you’ve got any extra baggage dragging along you’d better let it go. If you’ve haven’t done your karmic work it will slam you in the face. This is the time to enjoy the most freedom you’ve ever had to be yourself, hopefully learning all the lessons that were meant to make you wiser. The rewards of experience can escalate or decrease dramatically, be sweet or bittersweet according to how much you’ve grown inside.

Katie Couric - a shrewd, sassy and serious woman is at a seminal moment in her life. Polls show terrible ratings. Even colleagues question her eclat. What all this hubbub reveals is discomfort with a less than traditional news format. Is it the male hierarchy dominance that clashes with her nature or is it something else? Couric is a brilliant interviewer: first of all, she is amazingly businesslike; her approach is insightful and direct; and she has a signature style i.e., a light, shrewd, or quirky observation that gets her subject to reveal themselves with a candid remark. It deserves more airtime.

The thing is Couric thinks like an executive producer, in a special about Walter Chronkite she commented: “If I knew the answer to what made Walter Chronkite Walter Chronkite I’d be running all three networks and cable television too.” Several freqs in her name show this: 44/8 the curiously static and authoritative pope number is her soul influence. Her vibrant charisma has the plonk of an eight - meaning she speaks from power and knowledge. However, the contradiction shows up in her reality number 30/3 - which is a really joyful conversationalist. Coupled with a 34/7 (taking risks) reality-direction and oddly, a 40/4 (overcoming doubts) how-direction that’s a healing influence. She’s willing to be unpopular and discuss the worst nightmares you hope never to have because of the 34/7 effort and 40/4 wisdom. She knows about misfortune but she triumphs by looking it straight in the eye. This is an adventurous woman who likes to see changes happen and her passion in life 95/5 (buzzing optimism) says she ought to globe trot. The right question would actually be then: Is she really meant for a desk job?

Couric is a sanguine personality with spunk. She communicates through her effervescent style. And the way it is is Now….we need to maintain hope wherever possible in order to create some phenomenal changes. We need positivity.

Yeah, Couric, you go girl!….Walter would second that.

“Planet 2003UB313. . . can you read me?”
May 3rd, 2007

"There are more things underwater than in heaven and earth."
Bikel Munsen

A guiding principle behind numerology is that the first mark scrawled, written, or etched into some form of register (birth certificate, public record, wall, etc.) represents the character of a person, place, or thing’s energy. That original document becomes the vibrational message for posterity about this entity’s purpose on this planet. Its weighty significance reminds me of the beat poet Allen Ginsberg’s writing axiom: “First thought, best thought.”

The new planet recently discovered that resembles earth hasn’t yet been given a pleasing moniker but it does have a reference number documenting its existence! This is an important bit of information about who or what it is. Planet 2003UB313 is a character already; and the other also interesting part is — it begs the question: How does it vibrationally compare with Planet Earth? Why not explore the unknown with simple frequencies and see how it stacks up with what is already evident?

The new planet rotates around the red dwarf star - Gliese 581 - a situation that temperature-wise indicates the possibility that liquid water is present. And we all know that where there is water there may also be life. Gliese 581 and Planet 2003UB313 have something in common vibe-wise too. They are both an 8 vibe, though different 8 types from the other. Eight is the number of material reality. Gliese 581 is a 44/8. The 44/8 is like a marriage between celestial influences and earthly desires. Sometimes I refer to it as the Pope number because it establishes a body of work, an order of followers, or a belief system into an institution or organization. It is materially manifested from deep spiritual roots. Planet 2003UB313 adds to a 62/8. 62/8 represents the Earth Mother. Looking after others, caring for the natural environment, and busy being a good consort to its star. There are more details about other planets in this part of the solar system that have an uncanny vibe or number eight. Eights predominate out there and in numerology terms — especially in the Orient — eight is revered as the lucky number of this world.

So where does Planet Earth fit in? Well, the thing is our planet has an actual name…the other planet has a “locator’s address” but no real name and the dwarf red star has never been given a true name either. Plain numbers as names don’t ring a bell. Names are like a song that call the listener in to their tune. Something referred to by a number is a frequency location but not like a composed melody with the romance. Earth then has a ring to it. The name of our planet connotes a place where dreams are challenged, illusions broken, and the future is created by our thoughts. Earth has the vibe 25/7 – the irreality, dream number. Adventure, vision, music, and caring for others comes with its baggage. Maybe we’re just an orphan of this other planet? Hopefully, not just a prodigal child but a reality check for the universe too. Now that’s a movie.
